About Vander Molen

Vander Molen Fire Apparatus Sales and Service began in 2004 as a single-salesman operation.  Originally Phil Vander Molen got introduced to Sutphen while in the role of committee co-chair for the DeWitt, NY Fire District; they purchased a SP95 (HS3815).  Phil was a full-time English Teacher at the time and has spent 25 years as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and now serves as Fire Commissioner for Dewitt Fire District.  VMFire incorporated in 2005 and began building a sales and service team over the next five years. 

 Soon after, Nick Catalino, (a Volunteer Fire Captain) who also brought with him a Sutphen-based engineering background, came and joined our team in the Central and Eastern NY territory in both sales and engineering/technical support. Nick currently serves as the Sales Manager and oversees the entire Sales Department. 

Successful sales and service relationships has led to expanding the Service and Sales Departments fleet to twelve vehicles and four maintenance trailers allowing our sales and service base to grow.  In 2016, VMFire undertook the next step in growth to purchase 3 acres of land and designed and built our new 9000 square foot service and sales facility (large enough to stretch out a SP110 inside)—building upon the service book of business established from years on the road.  This new facility is equipped with Huck Guns for aerial or body repairs, heavy truck lifts, a gantry, and has an on-site pump testing facility. Our service center also has a fully stocked parts department so we can assist with parts orders.

2021 we expanded our service and opened the doors to our Utica shop. A mini version of our Ballston Lake shop but equipted with all the tools to complete the job.

VMFire covers Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern NY for Sutphen Sales and Service, Tandem and single axle aerials, pumpers, tankers rescues and more.

VMFire covers Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern NY and the state of Vermont for PL Custom, Type I and Type III custom ambulances

VmFire covers Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern NY and the state of Vermont for Rescue 1, Heavy Rescues. 

VMFire covers Central and Upstate NY for Malley Industries for type II ambulances.

VMFire covers all of New York with the exception of NYC and Long Island for Vengeant Apparatus. Great mini pumpers, mini rescues, speciality vehicles, brush trucks and more.

VMFire also covers Fort Garry in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont for Fort Garry Sales and Service. Pumpers, tankers & rescues.
